According to ESPN writer Eamonn Brennan yes, Tony Wroten deserves PAC 12 Player of the Year.
Casting our ballots: Pac-12
I'm going to have to agree with him on this one. There is no other player in this conference that stands out and leads his team to victories more consistently than Tony Wroten. I really hope he stays another year, if not two, so that he can refine his skills and lead the Dawgs to a few NCAA Tournaments.

Washington basketball back on top of the Pac 12
The Huskies Abdul Gady lays it up against WSU |
Although their win on Saturday against the Cougars wasn't pretty, Washington managed to get it done when it counted. It was a pretty bad game altogether, the Huskies were in foul trouble all game due to some questionable foul calls by be officials. The thing that won the game for the Huskies was their free-throw shooting. The Dawgs were 15-19 from the line in the second half, while WSU was just 6-20. Freshman guard Tony Wroten again lead the Huskies in scoring with 21 points, while CJ Wilcox scored 16 off the bench. At the time the Huskies win on Saturday just moved them back into a tie with California for first place in the Pac 12, but when Cal lost on Sunday at Colorado the Huskies regained the top spot once again. With two games left on the schedule at UCLA and at USC, it is looking like the Huskies need to win both in order to secure an at large bid in the NCAA Tournament. USC shouldn't be difficult, but Josh Smith and UCLA will more than likely put up a pretty good fight.
The Huskies play next on Thursday, March 1st at 11:30ET @ USC

Ichiro moves to 3rd, Figgins to lead off
As for Figgins, last year he had one of the worst batting averages on the team and was one of the worst at getting on base. In Figgins defense, he has always been a lead off hitter and he hasn't had the opportunity to do that with the Mariners yet. Lets hope this recent lineup change can spark Chone Figgins back to his productive self like when he was with the Angels.
Here is what the Mariners lineup should look like:
1. Chone Figgins, 3B
2. Dustin Ackley, 2B
3. Ichiro, RF
4. Jesus Montero, DH
5. Justin Smoak, 1B
6. Mike Carp, LF
7. Franklin Guiterrez, CF
8. Migual Olivo, C
9. Brendan Ryan, SS

Dawgs sweep the Arizona schools and keep their tournament hopes alive
The Huskies completed a season sweep of the Arizona schools at Alaska Airlines Arena on senior night Saturday, beating Arizona 79-70. The Washington scoring was lead by Terrence Ross who had 25 points, and freshman sensation Tony Wroten who had 22 points which included a monster jam on a breakaway (shown in the video below) that propelled Washington to the win. I would say that this is the best and most complete game that I have seen Washington play this year. Like in previous years, the Huskies are playing their best basketball down the stretch. I am excited to see if the Dawgs can build of this win, get better, and continue to play solid basketball heading into the PAC 12 Tournament.
Washington's next game will be at Washington State on February 25th at 8pm ET, 5pm PT.

Huskies fall into a tie for first with Cal after a disappointing weekend in Oregon
With the win that the Huskies held onto against Oregon State on Sunday, the Dawgs still share a tie for 1st place in the Pac 12. In order to hold on to that 1st place spot the Huskies need to go at least 4-1 in their last 5 games. I would go as far as to say that the Huskies need to go 5-0 because Cal still has the tiebreaker from when they beat Washington head to head earlier this season. These last 5 games are going to make or break the Huskies season, these games more than likely will decide the Huskies postseason fate in respect to the NCAA tournament.

Could new arena bring back NBA and possibly bring an NHL team to Seattle?
Talk of Seattle building a third major stadium just south of Safeco Field is looking more and more prominent. Third party investors have been working behind the scenes for months now trying to get plans to get a new stadium built that meets the NBA's standards. Even if we break ground for a new stadium in Seattle, the question then becomes what team are we going to get? Some people speculate about the Sacramento Kings coming up here, others are talking about the New Orleans Hornets. Either way, we are going to be stuck with a team that isn't very competitive. Although I wouldn't mind going to watch former Husky Isaiah Thomas play with Sacramento, I have never been much of an NBA fan. Maybe that will change this time around if we do end up getting a team.
The new stadium will dual as both a basketball stadium and a hockey arena. My interest is more in the NHL team that we are rumored to get. Most speculate that the team to come up to Seattle will be the Phoenix, Coyotes. I could care less which team we get, I am just looking forward to having a team to go watch. I've never really been into watching hockey on TV, but I think that I could get into it if we had a team right here in Seattle! As for team names I have heard people come up with a lot of names, but the one I like the most is the Seattle Chinooks. To go along with that the arena could be nicknamed "The Hatch." Trust me, It'll catch on. For now though, all we can do is hope that everything works out and we can get not only the NBA back in Seattle but also welcome an NHL team.

Top Dawgs!
With the victory by Washington last night and the loss suffered by Cal to Arizona, Washington now stands in first place all alone in the Pac 12. Looking at the rest of the schedule for Washington, I believe it is their conference to win, and also theirs to lose. With only one game left on their schedule being against a team that is in the top 5 of the conference (Oregon) I see no reason the Huskies can't go 7-1, if not 8-0 and make a big statement that they should make the NCAA tourney.
See the Huskies in action again Saturday at 11pm EST, 8pm Seattle time.
