Despite a strong performance from local product
Josh Smith from Kentwood High School in Covington, the Huskies pulled out a victory last night in Alaska Airlines Arena. Although leading scorer
Tony Wroten was on the bench for the last 5 minutes of the game, UW was able to go on a run down 10 to complete the comeback.
Washington was lead by sophomore guard
Terrence Ross who had 22 points, most of them coming in the second half. This has become the trend for Ross and for the Husky basketball team. For some reason they just decide to come alive in the second half and really start to step their game up. I can't wait to see what they look like when they play with the same intensity for the entire game.
With the victory by Washington last night and the loss suffered by Cal to Arizona, Washington now stands in first place all alone in the Pac 12. Looking at the rest of the schedule for Washington, I believe it is their conference to win, and also theirs to lose. With only one game left on their schedule being against a team that is in the top 5 of the conference (
Oregon) I see no reason the Huskies can't go 7-1, if not 8-0 and make a big statement that they should make the NCAA tourney.
See the Huskies in action again Saturday at 11pm EST, 8pm Seattle time.
